We’re keen for everyone to know about the brilliant people behind the New Forest Food and Drink Festival and so, over the next few weeks and months, we’ll be introducing you to our amazing local chefs who’ll be producing the menus for our headline events.

Those who love food from the land will be keen to learn more about Chris Wheeldon, executive chef at Beresford’s restaurant at the Balmer Lawn Hotel, which will be hosting the Glorious Game and Roaring Fires headliner.

The six-course tasting menu will be served with wines specifically chosen to accompany each dish and the speaker will introduce them, and explain the thinking behind their inclusion in the feast.

Chris is another chef who has trained in the south of England, starting work at Coppid Beach and after a few years of experience at Goodwood Park and Down Hall Hotel he became Head Chef at Carey’s Manor Hotel before joining Balmer Lawn.

His time in the New Forest has ensured he knows how to get the very best from the unique local produce. As Chris says “Your diet is a bank account, eat good food and you make good investments.”
