The New Forest is fast becoming one of the UK’s top foodie destinations. Why? Because the Forest is unique and the products which come out of it are consequently sublime. ‘A Taste of the Outdoors’ is the perfect opportunity to find out about our rich history and culinary heritage – and sample some delicious outdoors food from our top chefs.
A Taste of the Outdoors is a free event complete with free parking, being held on Wednesday November 2, from 11:00am – 2:30pm, at the historic Pony Sales Yard at Beaulieu.
Find out why ponies, donkeys, pigs and cattle roam unfettered all over the New Forest and who actually owns them. The National Park Authority’s Rangers and Travel Concierges will be on hand to provide information and ideas on how best to enjoy the fabulous landscape and heritage. Local animal craft and woodcrafts will also be exhibiting.
In the Show Ring, Head Agister Jonathan Gerrelli and some of his Commoning colleagues will be telling you all about the Forest’s animal culture and demonstrating various customs from tail clipping to branding whilst showing off some of the famous New Forest Ponies at the same time.
But the highlight of the event for the foodie is The New Forest take on street food – we call it ForeSTreet food!
In the main pony sales holding pen, top chefs from across the Forest will be creating their own outdoorsy ForeSTreet food offerings for you to try.
They’ll be demonstrating their skills and cooking up a storm – including, vegetarian paella, cold cuts, Forest cheeses, Scotch eggs, local recipe sausages, an oyster bar, hog roast and traditional afternoon tea cakes.
Buying this food couldn’t be simpler – visitors just purchase ForeSTreet food tickets at £5 or £10 but remember, entrance to the event and parking is free!
